The Trends to Try in Fall 2021

Fashion trends come and go, which is part of what makes it so fun! What’s questionable one year will be very much in the next and this fall you can expect to see a lot of fun trends you’ll want to try.

In this guide we’ll break down some of the biggest trends that have been hitting runways and being flaunted by your favorite celebrities as fall, 2021 approaches. Whether you want to play around with all of them or just try out a few, this guide will get you ready and excited for all of the fashion you’ll be seeing this fall!

Faux Leather

This fall don’t be afraid to lean into the ongoing leather trend more, this time with animal friendly faux leather. Faux leather options have improved dramatically over the past few years, with better quality and textures readily available, so why not experiment with this trend more? Incorporating a stunning leather piece into your outfit instantly amps up the chic factor and will make you feel ready to take on the world. If you still don’t have a go-to leather jacket, this is the year to invest in one. Even the beloved 90s-era skort is coming back in trendy faux leather finishes, giving this nostalgic piece a modern and edgy upgrade. Feeling extra bold? Try out a pair of leather pants topped off with a chunky knit sweater for an easy chic look.

Shackets

What do you get when you combine a shirt and a jacket? A shacket! This trend is perfect for autumn and combines the cut of a shirt with the warmth of a jacket. This combination is perfect for transitioning from fall to winter and can be layered over sweaters or worn just over a shirt or tank top on warmer days. The flattering cut of a shacket with the cozy warmth of thicker jacket material will be a staple in your fall wardrobe this year. Shackets come in a variety of patterns and styles and options with thicker linings will be perfect for taking your wardrobe through to winter.

Wild Animal Prints

Animal prints have been a recurring trend throughout fashion’s history, but this fall, expect to see a new spin on this trend to play with. Cheetah prints and snake prints were big recently, but this year bolder, black and white patterns enter the mix. Cow and zebra prints are being seen on everything from purses to active wear and pants. If you’re nervous about trying this new trend you can start off small with just an accessory or a piece accented with the pattern.

Cozy Knits

One thing a year of lockdown taught everyone about fashion was that comfort is good and trendy doesn’t have to mean uncomfortable. This fall, everyone is happy to see that comfortable knits will have a huge moment so you can stay cozy and comfortable all throughout those chilly days. These are by no means frumpy sweaters though. This year, knits will come in a plethora of silhouettes and styles, not just one boxy fit. Embrace this trend by adding a range of knits to your wardrobe. Try fitted knits, knitted skirt and sweater sets, ribbed sweater dresses, even loose-fitting knit pants!

Cute Cutouts

Unlike the distressed trend of previous years, expect to see symmetrical cutouts on all types of clothing pieces this fall. A cutout can add a little extra something to even wardrobe basics and is a small detail that the fashion world is embracing this fall. Designers are adding cutouts to pieces in a variety of areas, from the waist, to the back, arms and more and doing so in a range of cutout sizes, so don’t be afraid to seek out a cutout style that’s right for you. Even the smallest cutout can instantly take your outfit to the next level. Anything from a classic knit sweater to a maxi dress is made more stylish with a strategically placed cutout.

Saturated Colors

Normally leaving summer and transitioning into the colder months means leaving bright and bold colors behind in favor of deep, muted tones. This year, however, saturated colors are popping up in all kinds of articles of clothing so you can continue embracing color. This trend doesn’t necessarily consist of all bright colors, but rather saturated colors, meaning colors appear more bold and well, colorful. Introduce some saturated pieces into your wardrobe and they’ll be sure to amp up any outfit.

Stunning Shine

Get ready to stand out with this trend. Whether in the form of shimmering sequins, metallic or satin, clothing that brings the shine will be a going-out staple this fall. Try out the trend with a high-shine party dress or catch the light with a sequined number. This will definitely be the trend to try to bring some dazzle back to those cold, dark nights.

Relaxed Denim

Skinny jeans were everyone’s go-to jeans for a while, but now it’s time for more relaxed silhouettes to have the spotlight. Of course there are still times when you’ll want to rock that classic pair of skinny jeans, but this fall have some fun experimenting with jean styles you may not have tried in previous years. Relaxed denim silhouettes will be available for any body shape or size and will give you a chic look that you can move in. Switch up your go-to jean style and try a looser-fitting straight-leg denim or make your mom proud with a pair of mom jeans!

70s Denim

We all know fashion trends come and go, but some were surprised to see this famous trend making its way back into fashion. This fall, expect to see 70s-style flared and bell bottom jeans popping up everywhere. This fun trend brings back the iconic silhouette from the 70s with jeans fitted throughout the knee and dramatically flared at the bottom.

We’re excited to see all of the trends that fall 2021 fashion brings and we’re even more excited to see how you have fun with them! Whatever trend you’re interested in trying, we can help connect you with pieces you’re sure to love.
